There is a VM part number on the intake, would be interesting to use it to ditch the FCV on ours.....

That's what my engine looks like :)

No VGT, vacuum controlled EGR. Ahh.

Sam, while you have that engine lying around like that, can you please take a photo of a suitable area for an EGT probe installation on the manifold?

I have a little hard time manuevering in the hose hell in my engine room and would dearly like to know where to install an EGT probe on the manifold if at all possible :)

Thanks in advance!

Yup, I'll be taking better pics of the engine, one thing so far is that we haven't been able to get good pics of the engine out of the Jeep, I think these are the best we have seen yet.

Keep us posted on the swap

Steve

P.S. I didn't think it was going in that old compressor you got, besides the VM CRD HP and Torque would tear it up

Sweet. Looks like you could blank off that whole cooled EGR nonsense and never throw a CEL. Am I going to be seeing this thing back in CO?

Check that nose\headlamps, then check the Mahindra noses

By the look of the oil filler cap and tube, that engine's never been run

The PO poured out the oil since I had to transport the engine on its side in the back of my XJ, it was perfectly clean.

Some diesel also poured out, or at least enough that I was getting diesel vapors in the back of my Jeep, so its had diesel in it at some point.

In any case, its new or near new.

Don't forget that engine is the 2.5L, not the 2.8L.

It was also built in Oct. 2000, should actually have quite a few hours on it despite being "clean" in appearance.

Post subject:  What about the ECM?

Sir Sam

I hope you have a line on an ECM, I would hate to try to program a PLC to do the job.

There are US 2.8 ECMs for a reasonable prices, but I dont think I will get them to work for me, I suspect I may end up having to buy parts from oversea's.

If true, how come it has a water cooled EGR? The 2.5 doesn't use a water cooled EGR system to my knowledge.

I see the "engineering sample" written on the belt, but would that include the entire engine??

Pretty much. The serial number from VM shows it to be a 2.5L built in oct 00.

Uffe could you post some pics of your engine bay, specifically of your ECU and where your throttle cable attaches.
